You don't have to be perfect, but you do have to be clear

What is Global English Today?

There are so many different kinds of English in our world. British English, American English, Australian English, Canadian English, South African English etc. All are acceptable internationally, as long as we are understood. There is no one better than the other, or one more acceptable than the other.

The English language continues to evolve with time in our fast changing world. This does not mean we should ignore the rules and guidelines of English. In our global environment today, it is more important to be understood than to focus on being grammatically correct all the time. We don’t need to sound like a native speaker to be understood. We do however need to be able to speak clearly. Pronunciation is very important in order not to miscommunicate. Be authentic with your accent. It is more important to sound natural rather than with an accent you’re not comfortable with.

English is now spoken all over the world, both by native and non-native speakers. The focus is on clarity and the ability to relay your message across.

You don't have to be perfect, but you do have to be clear.
